Tehran-Montréal

Last month I got the chance to know Nadia. We talked about the interaction between me and the new society I’m living in today. Where do my ideas come from and how do I give form to them. Stories that are still based deeply in my memories from my life in Tehran and different approaches that are the result of my daily life in Montréal. (This video is the result of our talk, made by Nadia for Radio Canada International)

I was 13 when I seriously started thinking about my future profession. I wanted to become a detective. My mom tried to convince me that this job is going to change my social interactions! ‘’Everybody will keep more and more distance from you as they believe you want to look through their affair’’, she added.

I think that cinema has given me a chance to find the answers to my questions. It has helped me satisfy my curiosity about the stories of other people by helping me at the same time to improve my relationship with them. I still think about this specific dream of my childhood. I envy myself at that age and I’m looking for that courageous soul I had at that time. Today I’m a “Filmmaker” in Montréal. Yesterday when I was a young teenager in Tehran, I was bravely calling myself a “Detective”. Did I follow my childhood dream in another way?
